Ron Roy states; "I have worked hard over the last 35 years to reach =
whatever level I am at -
it is only during that last 10 years that I have be asked for photos for
major publications - I am not ungrateful however - every one else is =
making
some profit. All I ask is some compensation for the years I spent
developing some thing worth printing. "

Ron, I was lucky enough to have a pic of one of my platters published in =
the new Robin Hopper/Daniel Rhodes
textbook, 'Clay and Glazes for the Potter'. It never occurred to me to =
ask to be paid for the honor. I think the overall=20
exposure will far exceed any monetary compensation I could have =
received. Year after year that pic will still be there.=20
I think of it as helping Robin with his book. I'm happy for him and =
happy to contribute. I hope he makes a ton of money from it.
Plus, now I have a new line item for my Resume.=20
I understand where you are coming from but I don't think the publisher =
can afford to pay for each picture included. The original promise was a =
free copy of the textbook if your pic was included but was changed to a =
reduced price for the book because so many pictures were included.
I was disappointed but understood. If they paid for each picture the =
price of the book would skyrocket.
