Dropping in on the converstation on whether or not one should expect to get
paid for photos in publications. I feel I can understand both points of
view. I am entirely against the idea of giving away one's work, unless for
charity, friendship or carefully calculated promotion. But I don't view
offering photos to be published as giving away my work, mainly because I
don't view the photos as being my work. I see the photos as being
representations of my work. If such a representation were to make someone a
lot of money, I'd certainly want my share; but I think in most cases no-one
is making a lot of money on these publications, and if they are it is for
their organizational and writing skills. Not the value of the images
included.
