Dear Janet,
I have to suggest that it is possible to apply Gold Resinate Lustre to =
an unglazed clay surface.
For a period of time one of the gallery proprietors I supplied bought =
many unglazed items which had been treated with Liquid Bright Gold. The =
effect is remarkable, giving the full colour of gold with the surface =
texture of silk.
I will send an illustration as a separate post.
Best regards,
Ivor.

When I do this, it only comes out nasty grey. I need
at least a vitreous engobe over the clay to get the
metallic color. (I generally use ^6 stoneware.)

What is your claybody for this? Porcelain?
