Pointing out that Mel spoke of art and PSYCHOBABBLE... can't believe
we're defending the use of PSYCHOBABBLE!, for God's sake ... in art or
therapy or anywhere else. I didn't read anywhere in his post that he was
speaking of legitimate therapy in any of its forms. Good thread and lots
of issues well stated, but I don't think any of us really mean that
PSYCHOBABBLE is an acceptable approach to art or to mental health. jeez
or geez

If, by "psychobabble" one means something more like "pop psych", I agree.

As one involved in the world of counseling, I'm used to hearing the term "psychobabble"
applied to the language of reflective listening. Yes, it's stilted and artificial in many
ways.
And it's a useful tool for reaching clarity between persons in dialog or in conflict.
