Ilene...... definitely take a small empty suitcase ... mine will be a
carryon with small bowls wrapped in clothes. There are loads of
"papers," posters, copies of magazines etc ... books galore ... samples
of thisnthat... transportable items available for purchase, also. I've
bought one of those strap contraptions for keeping your back supported
while throwing... use it, too ..... small, square plastic bats ... an
apron... tee shirts ... Potters for Peace mug ... if you're a packrat
(true desert rats are all packrats) you'll easily fill an extra
traveling bag.
Are there taxicabs at the Charlotte airport? .... must be.... anybody
know how much fare might be to the Omni? Our desert acreage is only two
miles from the local airport so we generally Hoof It, Dragging our Bags
behind us. Sand helps glide them along. Guests, however, have been known
to possibly resent this unexpected walking tour.... Sylvia actually
INSISTED on being driven to the lone Mexican restaurant in our
neighboring hamlet of 700 bedraggled souls. So forgive my lack of
experience when inquiring about taxis.
Joined the Potter's Council today .... can feel it in my Kentucky
mountain bones that THIS is going to be a big deal! However, I didn't
realize that when the credit card info was encrypted I wouldn't be able
to see the last four numbers on my screen ... messed with it. Be warned.
Helpful Christine is checking to see if my membership went through ...
just as certain that potters are almost always great people, is my
experience that NOTHING related to pottery is EVER EASY! My fault,
however... too quick on the trigger.
I am respectfully "that (&^#@ sheriff" ..... not "%*$#sheriff,"
MrMayorSIR ... And you did say that shino was for RESEARCH only, NOT
ABOUT POTS! Heartbreaking..... rude, too... and after all that shino has
done for you.... and fickle!... jeez. Coming from such an affable,
kindly potperson, such thinking is Doubly Shocking.

In the Mojave after talking with Diana and realizing that to my kids I
was and am just Mom ... Mom the Baker, Mom the One Who Reads Aloud To
All Small Children, Mom the Computer Nut, Mom the Perpetual Student. My
granddaughter, on the other hand, came to visit Grandma, to visit her
classroom and write as Much and Big as she pleased on the chalkboards
..... my great-grandchildren (2)come to see Grammie who lets them play
with mud and fires their masterpieces. When they say with great awe that
their Grammie is a Potter, my children and grandchild shake their heads
that such could actually happen in Our World ... so do I!
