Thanks for the glaze tests, Marianne.

I get a speckled white by using Tony's 5x20 with 7% zircopax over a speckled
brown claybody. You can, of course, adjust the zirconium up or down as you
please, or try 3.5% of tin instead, if you prefer tin.

Large Orton ^6
Small kiln-sitter ^7
10 hour firing, 1 hour soak, no fancy cooldown as I don't have a =
Pyrometer (yet)
Clay bodies used all Tucker's: CCSS (speckled) ^6 stoneware
MCS ^6 =
porcelain
Mid Smooth =
stone ^6
Smooth White =
stone ^6
Mid Red =
stone ^6
Dark Mid Cal =
5 stoneware ^6

PEWTER
Hansen's 20x5 base
10% copper oxide
8% superpax
Nice opaque shiny pewter on all clay bodies.

SILVER=20
Andie's Barnard Black
Low-sheen dark silver-sort of pewter on all clay bodies.

WODO WHITE
WoDo White glaze base looks nice, feels nice, and is matt, waxy, silky, =
but came out a little bit off-white in colour for me. I subbed EPK for =
the ball clay so that's likely the difference. Possibly I applied it =
too light. Will test again.

FROSTY CRYSTAL
The Frosty Crystal base Cindy posted recently with my addition of 0.5 =
cobalt carb added, came out a very attractive matt sort of wedgewood or =
delpht blue and feels nice. No crystals but that was to be expected for =
me. It's a nice matt glaze though.

EBONY
50.0 Barnard slip
50.0 3124
Dark, shiny, rich translucent brown on all clay bodies, but nicest on =
Smooth White when used by itself.

BUTTERSCOTCH (via Tom Buck, via Ababi)
22 3134
22 Wollastonite
4 Lithium carb
30 OM-4 ball clay
22 Flint
Came out transparent clear, with whitish and yellowish streaking =
throughout on MCS, Mid Smooth, Smooth White. Came on transparent clear, =
with some light blue and tiny bit of white streaking on CCSS and Mid Red =
and Dark Mid Cal 5.

HOWEVER, when I layered Butterscotch over top of Ebony, and vice-versa, =
I got some very pretty amber/dark brown effects.
AND when I layered Ebony over the Frosty Blue as described above with =
the 0.5 cobalt carb in it, I had some nice matt blue/shiny dark brown =
effects.

STONY MATT TURQUOISE
6.0 bone ash
26.1 Neph sy
2.4 Dolmonite
13.2 Wollastonite
31.6 Stronium carb
15.1 EPK
5.6 Tin oxide
3.0 Copper oxide
This glaze someone (??) posted recently named Stony Matt Turquoise came =
out very nice on the Mid Smooth and CCSS clay bodies. Some greyish =
areas on all of the other tested clay bodies.

Tony's ultra-clear is very nice and clear and much clearer than the =
20x5, in my humble opinion, especially over underglaze brush strokes.

CINNAMON-SPECKLED BEIGE
I wanted a nice white gloss with tiny black specks in it, so I took 400 =
mL of 20x5, plus 27 g tin oxide, plus 1/2 tsp. granular Ilmenite. Well, =
what I got was what I will call something I will call cinnamon specked =
beige. It stayed exactly where I put it, edged up to Tony's =
ultra-clear. Very pretty for some effects, but if anyone knows how to =
get a nice stable white gloss with tiny black specks in it, I would love =
to know.

For the furture, I promise to take better care to note the name of the =
glaze originator for reference.

The zircopax is a speckling material. It is also gives you kind of cold,
shiny white, opposite of the warm relaxing tin.I prefer the zircopax.
