yet we have pockets of great teaching, good technique, glaze
experiments, and that great combination of skill, technique, art
and creative minds at work. both the teacher and the student.

You must be talking about Brookhaven College where I do all my =
ceramics. Besides the very excellent teachers there are about 30 or =
more continuing ed students who are professional potters in every sense =
of the word professional....There are glaze classes going on all the =
time as well as individual research...and most of the real winners are =
shared....though it takes a pretty damn good glaze to displace one of =
our buckets, of which we probably have 20 counting lowfire...I like to =
call it ceramics heaven
Throw in 5 or six intense workshops a year and the spirit of all =
those beginners around all the time, and what more can you ask for????
As for participating in firing....you can if you want......We are =
gonna make people forget about that Newcomb place in New Orleans, and =
that other one in Dakota.....As Grandpa McCoy would say, "No brag, just =
fact"
