Hello,
I wouldn't use this myself on food service ware as it stands and especial=
ly if
coloring oxides were added. The B203 level is high and the SiO2 may melt =
well
and look good but your Al203 is very low and out of limits for the sets I=
use
for ^6 heat work. I looked at this both on a molecular level and weight
percent.
I have seen glazes similar to these however and they will sometimes make =
a
nice decorative glaze that cannot be had other-wize. If you use this I su=
ggest
going the route of decorative. I adjusted it a little but that will be yo=
ur
choice to see if it holds ground with your glaze below. (Time for the act=
ual
mix and see) I also subbed out the GB with Laguna borate and boraq 1 and =
the
Custer for G-200 and it showed to replace the Gertsley in the mix and rem=
ain
in limits based on my changes. It did not show this however using Murrays=
borate. Maybe that narrows your choices a little?
25 Flint
25 G-200 Potash Spar (replaced custer with what I have on hand)
12 Talc
30 GB (Subbed Laguna borate and boraq 1) 1/1 ratio of either one
8 EPK
This just does drag the formula into the limits of possible use for servi=
ce
ware. Give it a little time and more people will give their opinion on th=
is as
well and you can take it from there. good Luck!

Folks:
would some kind, knowledgeable person give me their opinion on whether it=
would
be advisable to use the following glaze on food surfaces, cone 6 ox. no
colorant.
30.0 flint
20.0 Custer feldspar
14.0 talc
31.5 gerst borate
5.0 EPK
Thanks
Wallace
