Dear Cindy,
There are persons on the list who single fire only, like Steve, but I =
have a little experience and can offer you only this
Single firing has it's own set of rules and you cannot take greenware, =
glaze and fire as usual.
When I tried it, I needed to figure out how to
Glaze the pots without them cracking up
Reworking glazes with more clay in them
Firing much, much slower at least in the beginning of the firing.
I still had slumping and cracking and other faults in the firing.
It can be done well! If it was as easy as two firings, we would =
probably=20
all be doing it.
I have no where at all perfected this and do not do it because I am not
at a stage in my work right now where I can risk so much in my =
production.
However, there are many, many posts in the archives, that can give you a =
lot of information.
Best regards
