Joy. I am not sure what "big bucks' your geek friend is referring to.
A domain name costs $75 for two years, and I have seen advertisements
for much lower prices.
You can register your website with various search engines without any
costs whatsoever.
The monthly cost for a domain business site as well as a personal site
plus unlimited internet access on Earthlink is less than $40 dollars per

month.
there are probably even be better deals than that out there.None of this

involves banners.

would you be paying the big bucks to your geek friend? if not, who?

I used www.doteasy.com to host my website ( www.jensenandmarineau.com) . =
There is no monthly fee, no banner ads, and you can purchase a domain =
name through them for $35 a year. So far it has worked just fine. It's =
only been up for a couple of months and haven't made any money from it.

I make sinks and tile. I see it as a marketing tool that I can send =
clients to ( architects, interior decorators, builders, etc.), rather =
than something people will find on their own. I have had several =
inquiries, which surprised me because I am a needle in a haystack out =
there in cyberspace. Linking to other sites would help people find my =
site, and I haven't done that yet.

I built it myself using FrontPage. I am not computer-savvy and it took =
me a long time to make (two steps forward, one step back). I would =
welcome any comments and suggestions for improvement.
