I've seen various recipes for low-shrinkage
handbuilding clays that can be used over
armature, and most of them run about 50%
cement. High-alumina cement seems to be
preferred when a particular sort is specified,
but regular cement seems to work, too. I'm
guessing that what you've got is at least
moderately refractory; I'd be tempted to
try it out!
