Sandy;
Try a drop of dishwashing soap.
Terrance
it floats on the top and looks pretty awful. Any hints on mixing up glazes
high in copper oxide or carbonates???? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanx in advance!

Spent the last hour researching the archives with no luck. I am mixing up
test raku glazes. I have a formula that has 78% red copper ox. Having a
terrible time getting the red copper ox. to incorporate into the glaze, it
floats on the top and looks pretty awful. Any hints on mixing up glazes
high in copper oxide or carbonates???? Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thanx in advance!

Mix it with some alcohal first then add it to the glaze. I'd watch out
for that much copper which would really tend to re-oxidize after a
while.

deterate...I had the same experience..Thanks to the glaze or chemical
gurus I spent time with at Charlotte..Ilene in Conn.. with clay and

Sandy,
Add a drop of dish detergent to reduce surface tension and mix glaze a day or
two in advance of application. Easy fix.

A few drops of detergent or a wetting agent like calgon will release the
surface tension of the water and let the red copper oxide mix.
