Hi Everyone, I just joined this group and cannot believe the amount of info
flying back and forth through the ozone! Anyway, I am a tilemaker and have a
question. I currently slab-roll all my tile, but my production has grown so
much over the past few years, that I am seriously considering a huge
investment in a Bluebird Tile extruder, complete with the cutting table etc.
etc. Have any of you used this machine? I would be grateful for any
feedback to help me make my decision. Also I have been considering
approaching a couple of different tile galleries to represent my work, has
anyone any feedback on Ann Sacks Tile or Pratt and Larsen (Portland, Oregon).
Have never sold wholesale before, but the prospect of not having to lug half
a ton of tile around shows anymore is very attractive!! Jude

Hi Jude
I haven't used the machine that you mentioned but I do have a couple of
suggestions on how to extrude tiles without spending alot of money on new
equipment
What I did was to use the standard wall mounted hand lever extruder, that
almost every studio has, as a model and just enlarged the dimensions until I
had an extruder that was big enough to cope with the 10 inch die that I
wanted to use. I made a long handle for it that's about 10 feet and I've
been using it every day for the last 9 years works great and does'nt break
down.
The other suggestion I have is, if you have a pugmill or can buy a used one
it's quite simple to made a tile die to fit on the end of it.
Hope that helps
Craig
