Dear Clayarters,
=20
Well, I thought I'd be able to temporarily sign off for a while, but no =
such luck!
=20
I have been asked to seek advice from those of you who administrate or =
otherwise are members of pottery guilds, co-ops, or other group studio =
situations.
=20
There are a group of potters and ceramicists, organized under a larger =
non-profit studio arts organization Creative Artists' Studios of Ames =
(CASA) that are about to begin retrofitting a space for ceramics. Part =
of the space will be available for private studio rental and part will =
be for shared group studio space. =20
=20
The closest pottery suppliers are in Minneapolis/St. Paul area--hundreds =
of miles distant. We would like to be able to provide raw materials to =
those using the group studio, but aren't sure about how to go about =
doing this in an efficient, cost-effective way. The advice I am seeking =
is: How do you charge your group studio members for clay, other glaze =
materials, firing costs, etc? How is your clay supplied to the group =
studio members? How do you amortize the costs of glazes and firings? =
Your wisdom is much appreciated!
You may respond to me on the list or privately.

Thanks,
Greg
