indelible images of nceca

The images that will remain in my heart are never predictable... except
that they are always either of people or critters. One whole little
vignette that fills me with giggles is when I first saw Tony&Sheila by
the elevator pushing the button for Floor 6 for the Clayart room. I
recognized them from pictures, having not yet had the pleasure of
meeting them. I approached, hugged Sheila who read my badge and hugged
me back. I then slipped it off before turning to greet Tony ....
EXTREMELY effusively, GUSHING over and over and over again that I just
adored himandall his wonderful writingsandhiswebsiteandhispotsand that
he's so handsomeandwittyandintelligentandcleverandcute and how lucky
Sheila is ...on and on and on up six floors and down the hall, right to
the door of the Clayart room. Tony .... what a gentleman!... remained
cool but kept shooting glances at Sheila ... who was totally cracking up
.... as if to ask "Who IS this wild woman? Am I supposed to know her?"
and "Rescue me, please..... if you love me, get me outta here." Once we
crossed the threshold of the very crowded Clayart room, I put on my
badge but walked away through the crowd. I think Tony was so relieved
that this whacky person had disappeared that he sorta snuggled into one
spot and stayed there for a bit. When he did read my badge, bless his
sweet, polite person, he came over laughing and hugged me ... receiving
a genuine, non-pretend, hug in return.

Other images will come as I sort them out..... at least a few, anyway. I
have soooo many ... it could take until next March to relate them. The
Mayor's Arrival in all his charismatic glory! The first voice I heard as
I stepped from the van at the Omni... Lori's dulcet, southern tones
calling my name as she got out of her car! Returned to the lobby after
depositing luggage.... and there was David Finklnberg!.... and then
Vince..... and David McBeth! Each is a delightful, warming image. More
later, if time. May go up to Oregon in a few days for a quick
look/see.... not certain ... thought about taking a sample of the shino
to Craig rather than e-mailing the picture. Wouldn't that be fun??? But
my destination is too unsettled at the moment.

leaving for a while....... I hope.

Hey Joyce;

If you are coming this way, why not take in Showcase 2001. 180 Oregon &
So.Washington potters in one very large room, including but not limited to
Craig and Hank. The largest all-clay show in the nation. May 4, 5, &6th, at
the Portland Convention Center.

Besides that event, the teapot's always on here in Eugene,

Where Hank works

And then come up to Seattle and meet me and 99 other Washington artists at
the Washington Ceramics Showcase May 4,5,6 at the Washington State
Convention Center in Seattle.

Bring Craig with you!

Grrr! I hate it when they schedule major shows like this on the same
weekend. Haven't been to the Seattle one but the Oregon Potter's
Association show is well worth a trip. Heck, it's worth it just to see
what amazing things Hank will pull out of a cloth bag in his pocket!

I may be ferrying kids to a youth group conference about halfway between
Seattle and Portland that weekend and will have to decide whether to
turn left or right!

plant in my flowerbed. Doesn't get any better than that.

Dear Ginny & other clayart travelers;

Look for me at Booth A-22 at Showcase 2001. If you don't find me there, ask
at the info booth where I might be pulling one of my workshifts.

Cheers, Hank

gee, that sounds like a great opportunity for these
two old hippies to take our vw camper on a nice spring
trip south for the weekend. i'll be checking our
campground books to find a nice spot somewhere between
those two big cities. it would be nice to meet some
clayart folks face to face and would help me get over
my jealousy behind missing nceca. see you there!
