1. The Potter's Dictionary of Materials and Techniques by Frank and Janet
Hamer
(I once traded half my library to pay for this one, without a single
regret!)
2. The Craft and Art of Clay by Susan Peterson
3. Opened Ground; Selected Poems 1966-1996 by Seamus Heaney
(Read it and you'll know why.)

World Ceramics edited by Robert J. Charleston

Ten Thousand Years of Pottery by Emmanuel Cooper

(I like picture books.)

I haven't figured out yet what the third one would be.

After a rather lengthy fight with myself:

Hammer's "Potters Dictonary of Materials and Techniques"

Munsterberg's "World Ceramics"

Pitelka's "Clay -- A Studio Handbook"

Yes, I have learned from my mistakes...
I can reproduce them exactly.

I'm with John Baymore most of the way; The Hamers
(Potter's Dictionary) and Cardew (Pioneer Pottery)
would have to go with me.
Number three would be 'The Potter's Alternative',
by Harry Davis.

Let's see, that's two Brits and an Aussie, two out of
three authors are deceased, and two out of three books
are out of print.

For me they would be
1. Cardew's Pioneer Pottery
2. Susan Peterson's The Art and Craft of Clay otherwise known to
me as the "Stripey Pot Book" and given to me by Dannon.
I can't afford Hamer's so I would take Greg Daly's Glazes and
Glazing Techniques so I would have something to drool over.
