Ben Owen III is a potter from Seagrove North Carolina. His forefathers cam=

storage jars and other utilitarian wares for early settlers. Ben=B9s
grandfather, Master Potter, Ben Owen, Sr. admired early oriental pottery
exhibited at local museums and collections and translated those works in hi=
s
own style of pottery. Ben Sr. worked at the famed Jugtown Pottery in the
early to mid 1900=B9s. At an early age, Ben III was influenced by his
grandfathers work. He apprenticed with his grandfather from 1977 to 1983

grandfather, Ben reflects a foundation of traditional designs as well as
oriental translations.

=B3practically synonymous with the ceramic arts=B2. Raised in Cornwall,
England, Ara became an apprentice with his grandfather, Michael Cardew in
1981 at the Wenford Bridge Pottery. As a third generation potter, he
learned the skills involved in making pottery from throwing , to decorating
pots with nature inspired motifs, as well as the technical aspects of
pottery making. His work is included in several public and private
collections, including the British Council in London. He is currently a
guest artisan at the pottery studio of Miranda Thomas in Bridgewater,
Vermont.

During the workshop, Ben and Ara will demonstrate the making of the shapes
