vince pitelka's book

Folks,

I've enjoyed reading all the posts about NCECA. It was a fantastic event,
by all accounts, and I'm sorry I missed it this year. While I was stuck at
home with a broken leg, I had the opportunity to start Vince's book. I
say "start" because this is a book you skim through once then go back into
many, many times.

It's a very good read and I highly recommend it; especially if you're just
getting started in ceramics. Vince's writing style is exceptionally clear
and the content is easy to grasp. If you've been at this for a while you'll
enjoy comparing his methods to yours, but I also guarantee you'll make some
discoveries.

I enjoy going back through all of my pottery books from time to time, and I
know I'll pick up Vince's book many times over the years ahead just to see
what he has to say about a given topic in ceramics. I doubt very seriously
that there's a topic he hasn't at least touched on.

Christine -
I hope no one minds me answering this myself. You can purchase the book
directly from ACerS (see CM add), and Steve Branfman should have copies at
the Potter's Shop very soon. Amazon takes a while to catch up with such
things, but they should have it very soon. The very first copies of the
book were shipped directly to NCECA, so it will take a while for it to get
out to the ceramics suppliers.
I am really delighted with the response I have gotten so far.
Best wishes -
- Vince

Vince,
I ordered mine from Barnes and Noble on line (www.bn.com) and paid 24 dollars
for it. Congratulations, it has everything, congrats on your article in Clay
times. I'm taking the book to the local college and ask them to change
textbooks, yours has it all.

Looks like they raised their price after you got yours. :-( They currently
show it at $32, still less than the amazon.com price.

You should be delighted. It's the only book I bought at NCECA and I like
it a lot. It's so complete that I think Vince must have done a
brain-download into the book.

I might also expect Vince to be a lot smaller after putting so much of
himself into that book. ;-) (Maybe now a better match for Carla)

Well worth the wait.
