It's such a nice feeling backing into our biggest Hay Creek kiln when it's
warm! It's my hair and glasses that get sprayed when I'm spraying
inside kilns. Mel loves his spray gun and we need to be well out of the
way when he starts up his compressor.

several question to answer. all itc.
every studio should have a quart of itc100.
you can just brush it on the rings of the electric
kiln, or saturate it into thin kaowool strips.
place between your rings. i keep a jar with a tight
cover...a brush with it. touch up kiln shelves, repair
little blems in the kilns, both gas and electric.
amounts will vary. if you have a small kiln. well a little
itc.
if you have a great big kiln...you need more.
if you have a 100 cubic foot car kiln like dock six...well
you will need 5 gallons.
itc is the best kiln wash i have ever used.
i spray all my shelves. both sides, edges.
i just re/did all my shelves...ground off the little
blems, painted another coat of itc 100 on all of them.
second coat i brush on. they never warp/and i can flip
the shelves for each firing. it never comes off onto the pots.
my expensive thin shelves are as flat as can be. i tested
them on my formica counter. no light shows under them...about
80 firings.
the kiln shelves at the farm for the salt kiln are clean as a
whistle. double coat of itc sprayed on. we hardly have to
scrape off the salt. just tap them on the cement floor and most
of it just drops off. i know, people tell me it is b.s. but, they
are wrong. we have about 20 great potters at the farm, they
all marvel. we have itc on everything...often we spray kurt
in the ass. (he backs into kilns often)
the dock six women just got back from vince's place and the gail nichols
workshop. are they ever excited. i am sure they will tip
hay creek upside down this summer. (well, they do anyway.)
it will be soda heaven. soda soda soda.
they just loved the warm reception at the appalachian craft center.

there are a great many professional doubters out there
over itc. of course none of them have ever used it..they
just know it won't work.
dumb. if we did not invent it, it does not exist...the american
way of doing business.

Dear Mel,
I just sprayed my two new raku kilns with ITC 100. We are getting ready
to strip down an old Paragon and put new elements in it and try that
bunsen burner kiln you demonstarted in Clay Times.
I have used ITS for several years and repaired the school kilns with it.
I repair mine with it too and insulate them also.
Great stuff.
