Suki & Bill Meyer,

There are several excellent studio tours that are held each year in the
rural region called The Eastern Townships, south-east of Montreal. They
usually take place in mid to late July and early August.

"The Tour des Arts" web site is The
information on it at the moment relates to last year's tour, but check it
closer to the time you leave and I'm sure you'll find 2001 dates. They
will mail you a brochure and map if you ask before you leave (or it may
even be posted on the web site).

The "Circuit des Arts" takes place in and around Lake Memphremagog, also in
the Eastern Townships, just a bit further south and east of the Tour des
Arts. The web site for last year's tour is
"www.circuitdesarts.com/intro.html > , but again, it's not up and running
yet for 2001. Check back later. They also publish a map.

There is an interesting craft shop on Claremont Ave in Westmount (an area
in the west end of Montreal) called Farfelu. There is also the Canadian
Craft Guild in the downtown area of Montreal (I'm sorry, but I've forgotten
the street name but you can look in the phone book when you arrive).

Will you be touring Prince Edward Island? If so, check out North
Rustico. That is, as I recall, a "crafty" area.

I'm sure others on this list have favourite places to recommend too.

You must get to the 1001POTS 2001 exhibition and sale held at Val David,
Quebec. The dates of the event are 14 July to 12 Aug.

Val David is approximately 60 miles north of Montreal.

You will meet many potters that will lead you to studios and other
galleries.
Keep an eye out for the 1001POTS web page
