shino is a `life style`, not a glaze.

learn to keep kleenex tissue near the kiln.

some days you cry for joy.
other days you cry for shame.
other days you cry for icky pots.

it is a life style.
learn to enjoy it.

soda ash migrates to the surface of shino the older
it is.(on shelf before fire) if you cover it with wax, saran wrap or
bubble wrap
it will leave a color change or pattern.
it goes on and on.

Hi Mel,
Are you saying to cover the shino with wax, or the soda ash on top of the
shino with wax, or both ?
Will application 30 hours before firing show an improvement ? Did I wait =
too
late ? We fire the Hog Chain Mother with wood tomorrow afternoon ! Plenty=
of
shino experiments will go into her. We always have tissue available : )
Mel says, "One good pot...that's all I want is ONE good pot !"
We usually get plenty....keeps us working hard....a way of life : )
Off to apply soda ash......
Cheers, Merrie
