So I get home from the first day of the Skagit Valley Tulip
Festival last night, open my kiln, and have the pleasure of
seeing several nice mugs, Shino on Laguna B-mix, with nice,
iridescent bamboo brushwork in iron oxide, and when I bring one
in to drink coffee from this morning, I see the faint but
distinct imprint of my four fingers of my left hand,
carbon-trapped.
I glazed these mugs the day of the loading, and candled
overnight, and although I'm used to all sorts of surprises from
shino, this was a new one for me. I'm out to unload the rest of
the kiln & head back up to the fair. It's a beautiful clear
morning, and I hope there will be many customers eager to buy
nice pots...
