french....

Hi Everyone,
Well, I've got a few things that I've been wanting to ask so here goes!

First and most relevant to clayart. I'm trying to make a Sake set for a =
=3D
wedding gift and have never made one before. Does anyone know of a good =
=3D
web page or information with info on Sake and Sake sets? I"m concerned =3D
with accuracy as to volume held as well as form.

In response to our conversations on cultures. I agree that an =3D
international forum such as clayart needs to be conscious that many =3D
readers are not native to the main language "spoken" here so we should =3D
be careful of idioms etc. However, it is also correct that it is ok to =3D
use them. How boring if we were all the same, our differences are what =3D
make this world so wonderful. If using a phrase unique to your region =3D
just explaine it in parentheses. As a kid moving to the east coast of =3D
the USA from the mid-west I had never had a "submarine" before. what's =3D
a sub shop??? Imagine my surprise when I found out that a Sub shop was =
=3D
merely a Sandwich place and that instead of getting a "Grinder" at one =3D
we got the same thing...only here it is called a Submarine sandwich. (A =
=3D
sandwich on an oval loaf of bread as opposed to a slice of bread.) =3D
Anyhow, the beauty of travel, exchange student programs, pen pals, =3D
clayart, etc. is to have the opportunity of experiencing how people in =3D
other parts of the world are just like us, but have some different =3D
traditions and ways. =3D20

Speaking of which... off clayart topic, but maybe someone here can help =3D
me with it. My son is going to his first overnight summer camp this =3D
year. It is a total immersion French camp. Here in the USA our kids =3D
don't even get to start a foreign language until they are 11 or 12 years =
=3D
old. I thought this would be a great way for him to learn this second =3D
language a bit better than memorizing words once a week in French class. =
=3D
When he checks in they will take away anything he has with him in =3D
English. Books, music, story tapes, all of it can only be in French. =3D
Does anyone know of a good source that a USA Mom can have access to get =
=3D
a couple French speaking story tapes and books? Also, I would love to =3D
surprise him with a popular music CD in French. What are the bands that =
=3D
French teenagers are listening too? (young teen, not too mature!)

And last but not least I will be staying in Minnesota for three weeks =3D
this summer. Are there any Minnesota workshops planned for June 30 - =3D
July 16 time frame? Or any suggestions for pottery related activities?=3D=

Thanks in advance for any help!
Linda
