I have a sloppy friend (didn't know that until now!!)
that is borrowing studio space.
I am an anal stickler about keeping a wet studio but
not as wet a leaving the hose on and flooding my
studio!!! I don't want to talk about it!!! Just spent
my trim time mopping!!
Any way I wrote water instructions since I have an
interesting set up for studio water. and just went on
a rampage and the little candy wrappers left all over
turned in to "check for any paper scraps and trashes
and put them in proper receptical" so I am trying to
have some tact here ... And I figured if I am going to
write "studio rules" I should ask the family for
input... I have the obvious like "don't use metal on
plaster wedging boards" but I am willing to read it
100 times if it gets me a good firm set of rules...
Hows about we don't piss everyone off with rules and
send it directly to me and when I get it finished I
will post it to the list... :)

Thanks much!!

Oh MY GOD!!! See when I wrote the rules up I thought

to write "The Studio for dummies" But I didn't know I
would have to get that detailed.... Hahahahaa
Oh I cant believe it .. But I had thought about it in
college... ;) I mean really they closed on me every
time and I wasn't done .... :)

As my local pet crematorium fires at 1100C, and I then use the ash, could
Snail please explain the origin and background of this particular rule.
Irrespective of the answer, it is one further rule that I will ignore, un=
til
someone can convince me otherwise:-)

To this I would add:
"No midfire clay in ^10 firings"
and, for emphasis:
"Unlabled bodies will not be fired
above ^04"
It's easy enough to institute a system
of symbols to indicate body, especially
since so many of them look alike after
bisque... (personally, I use a /\ for
^10, a =3D for midrange, and a \/ for
lowfire just below my signature [to
help with orientation]... I've fallen
out of the habit recently because I'm
no longer in a public studio, and I
generally know which body I'm using for
which forms... but believe me, chipping
melted ^6 clay from the shelves after a
hard ^10 firing is no fun for anyone...
Me or the mouthbreathing idiot who I
repeatedly asked to label her clay, and
who took pieces out of a loaded kiln
which was being paid for by someone else
so that she could put her midrange ****
in... I have issues, I'm working on them.)
Best wishes,
Andi.
