Bev Zimmerman wrote us a wonderful note as did many other clayarters afte=
r
the PA workshop. It is often funny that something you say stays with some=
one
and means a great deal. Bev had ticker problems and probably thinks more
about life now than before. clock is fixed and she keeps on tickin'
a bit of what she wrote:

My journal entry for Saturday reads: "Keep your
freak flags flying." It makes me giggle...no..it makes me laugh out loud.=
..I
even wrote the words on the wall of my studio..which are covered with
poetry..I love writing on the walls..) ( I also wrote wrote: "excess is
never enough"..oh you gave us such funny moments..)

I got the "keep your freak flags flying" from a tape Junkyard Dawg sent m=
e.
Everything I ever learned seems to come from Texas. don't know the singer=
or
the song but it starts out with an introduction that goes something like
this
Drink hard, love hard, eat lots, party hearty, keep your freak flag flyin=
'
and wear glasses if you have to.
I like the part about celebrating our individuality and wearing glasses i=
f
you have to. Kinda like Popeye- I am what I am and I ain't what I ain't I=
'm
Popeye the sailor man.
We potters are freaks and at a certain point in your life you just say th=
is
is what I am and what I look like. I love me and if you try real hard yo=
u
could to.
My uncle Jim wore a womans pink mohair hat in the winter. No one in town
laughed cause they knew it was Jimmie the Potter. they liked him just the
way he was.
when he died many wanted his money. I wanted his hat. Haven't quite got =
the
nerve to wear it yet. when I'm older.
cheers,
tony
