I was noticing this evening as I dripped some liquid slip on the potter's
wheel: It shoots off the rim on a tangent to the edge. Now of course, I
know it does this; but it seems counter-intuitive in some way, because I
emotionally have this feeling of centrifugal force. I think from now on
I'll call it "tangential tendency." Only one more syllable and much more
accurate name for the phenomenon.
