The Clay Studio is proud to present two wonderful exhibitions:
First Friday, May 4, 2001
Opening Reception 5-9pm
Gallery Talks 5:30pm
Harrison Gallery: Kathryn Narrow, Managing Director of The Clay
Studio, will delight us with a Garden Party full of Spring flowers,
both real and imaginary as well as flower containers of all shapes
and sizes.
Second Floor Gallery: Leslie Carmin, Gallery Manager of The Clay
Studio, makes her curatorial debut with About Face- an exhibition
featuring artists whose work focuses on the emotional and
psychological potential of the face to express the human condition.
We are extremely proud of our wonderful co-workers- Please join us to
support these two talented staff members!
Special Events:
Mosaic Mural Workshop
May 5th and 6th
(this weekend!)
There is still time to join in on the historic and exciting extension
of the mosaic mural in The Clay Studio's hallway. Isaiah Zagar, one
of Philadelphia's most enthusiastic artists, will share all he knows
about breaking tile, cutting mirrors, installing mosaic murals and
how to color and apply the grout. Call 215-925-3453 xt15 to register.

Day Trip to Lancaster and Reading
May 19, 2001
Come see the phenomenal collection of Robert Pfannebecker- renowned
for collecting artists right out of the finest ceramics programs in
the country. Some of the "diamonds in the rough" in his collection
are from Michael Lucero, John and Andrea Gill, Patti Warashina and
many, many more!! This is also an exciting opportunity to see the
remarkable collection in Marlin Miller's home. Mr Miller's Arrow
International is home to a one-of-a-kind installation of hand carved
tiles by Wayne Higby as well as some wonderful fiber installations,
not to be missed! Included is a catered lunch, refreshments and
special entertainment on the bus. 9am-6pm. $100/members

Goings On at the Studio
International Visting Artist, Carlos Runcie Tanaka, (Peru) has been
with us since April and is working diligently! Randy Brodnax (Texas)
will be joining us in a couple of weeks.
In June, we will mount our 5th major international exhibition with
British Studio Ceramics: Works from the New Millennium, curated by
Board Vice President, Marc A. Grainer. Marc has brought together the
foremost in British ceramics for this incredible exhibition. Special
Member's Only Preview on May 31, 2001 6-8pm.
In the Second Floor Gallery, the Made at The Clay Studio exhibition
will showcase the International Visiting Artists that have been with
us this year.
Spring Classes have begun and Summer classes will begin July 9th.
