Hi-
would appreciate any and all suggestions on what I might do to get more e=
ven
heat distribution in wood fired train kiln

ware chamber 15 inches wide
ware chamber 61 inches long
ware chamber 22.5 inches deep

Other helpful information --I usually stack pretty loose, the draft is
pretty strong..
entrance and exit flues are across one another so it is pretty much a
straight shot..

most often: cone 10 down on top shelf (which is 10 inches from floor)
and on bottom cone 8 just starting to bend.

When I have tried to even out over time...over fire the bottom and top
front, back top and bottom tends to be underfired. Lots of temperature
variation on small space!

Thanks for any help.

Fred: I think you're firing this baby too cool. We fire to Cone 12 flat=
in
front which probably gives us cone 9 at the back. It requires sidestokin=
g
to get the back hotter. The bottom of our kiln is a sea of glass which
usually means it's time to stop or our shelves will be bent all to rat cr=
ap.
Hot and sticky is my advice.
I like trains!
