1. Mary asked whether she should continue taking lessons or save up fo=
r a
wheel. I wrote her off line, but thought I should throw my opinion out t=
o
the group. My take on this is to save up for the wheel, make your own
tools, and buy one video tape (Robin Hopper's Beginning Throwing). I've
learned more from that one tape than I did in any university session,
workshop, and massive library of books I've collected. Vince, Jack Troy,
and David Hendley taught me about making tools. It's also a good way of
getting rid of credit cards.
2. Propane, as Vince just stated: moving propane bottles on their side=
s
in not a problem. The only thing I would add is to never move these bott=
les
without a valve cap. If you don't have one, buy one. They can definitel=
y
save the day for the unforeseen accident waiting to happen. I would also
recommend the obvious, of tying that or those bottles down in the most
secure fashion.
I have no affiliation with Tara Productions, nor Robin Hopper other than
admiration.
Tom Eastburn, who just finished a workshop with a wonderful example of a
real clay "artist" out of Wisconsin, named Rick Foris. Absolutely amazin=
g!
