while driving back from nceca 2000, i picked up a chunk of the great salt lake,
utah

i fired this chunk of the great salt lake in a cone 10 test bowl

the salt effect on silica, alumina and feldspar was corrosive...the salt corroded a
hole through the clay body and into the kiln shelf

the color effect was a bright orange
