functional/nonfunctional

Beth Ellen has asked an excellent Q. Objects perform a service for =
hand and eye. Those intended for hand service must, by our standards, =
meet criteria of function. SERVICE is the function and I think is a =
name much to be preferred for the category.

My notion begs the Q: Does the negative of 'non-functional' become the =
equally ugly 'non-serviceable'? It seems to me that usage has already =
found an attractive name for the category in the word NARRATIVE.

It would be pleasant to see the last of 'functional/nonfunctional'. How =
does 'Service/Narrative' sound to you?

Hello Fran,

Could you elaborate a bit on the 'Service/Narrative' distinction?

Thanks,

Beth Ellen
