Hi Everybody!
I'll add this to the discussion of desert color: When the winter brings rain
(usually Dec.-Feb. here in the Mojave Desert), the hillsides come alive with
color, from blooming wildflowers! This winter, we got about 2/3 of our
average annual rainfall (less than three inches). This was enough to "waken
up" the seeds that lie dormant during drier times.
I often give visitors to the property I watch over, a full tour of the north
and west slopes, which overlook a wide canyon/dry riverbed. Each person gets
"fragrant flower miles" for taking the hike with me!
Best wishes!

living up to my moniker today.
