I never get any NCECA literature in time to meet any of
the deadlines therein. Requests for slides, panels,
suggestions - all weeks or months past the deadline
before I hear of them. Thought it was just me.....
And I have not received my bulletin(s) yet, by the way.

Well, it's nice to see that they're planning for next year at any rate.
Wonder if we'll ever get those catalogs they promised to print?

Hi all. My NCECA bulletin arrived just now. In it there is a CALL
FOR SUBMISSIONS for a show in 2002 in Kansas City. The exhibit
directors have chosen the contemporary ceramic artist's exploration
of materiality as the focus of the exhibition.
Please, please tell me: What does materiality mean? And what does
it mean about clay work?
Then reading further, I see that materials (slides) must be received by
May 21, 2001 when it is already May 31. Not that I am ready to or
serious about applying, but I don't understand the premise.

Second thing: strikes me funny, sort of. Did you know that 484 cups
were donated to the Cup Sale. Aren't we wonderful!!!!! I find that
I am finally glad that I have a weird first name as I almost couldn't
find myself. I am listed as Bacia Edehnau. I wouldn't even know how
to pronounce the last name. I am contemplating starting fiction writing
as I already found my pen name.
I know, I am sounding silly. It all comes of being past 60!!!
Back to cleaning up my very, very messy studio.

Mine arrived today....June 1st!
Hope some big deals at NCECA are reading all these posts and listening. As a
new memeber, I find their deadlines and incomprehensible descriptions of
topis for the 2002 conference more philosophy than realism! Hey, how about
something we can understand?
Materiality? is that materialism? is it about money? What does it all
mean. As a new member, this organization really confuses me.
Even if i did understand it all, it arrived past the deadlines.
oh well

Just as someone who has worked on the other end of receiving the information
past the deadline, maybe we as individuals should just write to NCECA and
inform then about the deadline, the lateness of receiving the information
and just ask if this was really an all out effort to get slides, or was it
an inside job to create an exhibition with out the masses applying, but
making it look up front. Who knows, maybe they will take note and extend
the deadline, since it really is almost a year away....... CIAO from
