I recently made what I think is about what your friend wants at cone 4
in oxidation by modifying Tony Hansen's 5x20 recipe (equal parts by
weight of Custer, wollastonite, frit 3134, EPK and silica). I
substituted talc (magnesium silicate) for the wollastonite (calcium
silicate). Made a very nice satin matt almost-clear. If that's not
matte enough at cone 6, I'd bet that a substitution of 10 talc and 10
magnesium carbonate for the 20 wollastonite would get closer to the
matteness desired. Add a little tin oxide or zircopax to opacify it,
and you're there.
