pottery slide show on web site test

I've added a slide show to my pottery web page and would really like your
opinions on if it is a nice way to show work, or not. One link now runs a 10
picture, four second per picture, slide show that ends back at the original
page. The other links are what I've used the last three years and it's
pretty organized -- but involves much clicking around.

I'd really appreciate some opinions about the effectiveness of the slide
show as, honestly, it doesn't quite thrill me for showing work... and yet..

Here is the link,

Thanks so much for your time,

Rick, I live in a rural area, and my internet connection is very slow. When
I viewed the slideshow, I encountered the same problem with the " on the end
of the url, but I also encountered another problem because of my slow
connection - the slide viewing period of 4 seconds was too quick the picture
would only be partly downloaded before it moved on to the next picture and
so on.
Perhaps my problem is unusual due to my slow connection (I have a 56k modem,
and I am lucky to connect at 26k)
I wholeheartedly agree however with everyone else that your work is very
beautiful and interesting! I did enjoy viewing it the "old" way.

Rick - I guess you will already have received this about 14 versions, but
this is what it looks like over here...

First of all, there are some broken links to worry about - the urls from pic
2 onwards have trapped a " at the end - delete this, the page loads. I
reckon you might have copied and pasted some stuff into some script?
anyway, should be easy enough to sort.

Secondly, does it look good? Well, it doesn't have the impact that the
small pics on black do. I viewed it full screen at 1024, and the picture is
kind of lost. Different colour background, centring the image on screen,
maybe some descriptive text may help.

How well does it work? well - the current problem points up one idea - with
no manual navigation buttons on screen, the viewer is lost when the code
breaks. Maybe some buttons, even if not intended to be used, and with a
suitable reminder, would help fill the page?

The Refresh tag gets you around the "is JavaScript on or off?" problem, but
does annoy some search engine bots - one or two sites will black list you
for this, although you should be OK off the index page. Worth checking out
though.

Otherwise, work is splendid!

Hope this helps

Very nice slide show but way too slow for 14.4 and 28.8 connections that
most people have in this part of the country. A few of us have 56K or
higher, but around here that is the exception. Enjoyed the beginning but
shut it down because it took too long to download at those speeds. I'm sure
other's would too. Best wishes anyway.

Hello Rick
First, for my slow connection ( we pay less we get less) it was surprisingly
fast.
Second let me tell you about your work, or about my work perhaps anyone's.
What is my stile, my way of creation? Where does the different shapes I make
come from?
From shapes we saw, in our minds, in surrounding life in exhibitions, lately
internet too.
For me, my style of working, perhaps not the right word, is a blended mixer
of all of these "views" and I know that your works, influenced my "style".
No, not copping, just small reminding in the first time, and now part of
myself, or the other way around, I made something similar, before I saw your
works, which "legitimated" mine where people around me explained me that
"square (shape) is beautiful"
