Janus,
i' used some left-over copper matt wash on a pot lately which gave a =
blue/grey hue ... the best was an area that must have been laying =
against some laylandie (spelling!? - big green fir-like tree!) and left =
awesomely detailed impression of the fir-like leaves scattered all over =
the pot.
Fellow potter friend also used pine-needles from her xmas tree ... =
again, wonderful impressions left behind.

I have wrapped banana peels around pots, and have used baking soda and
salt--all which give wonderful effects. I have also seen people tie various
kinds of rope around their pots which resulted in interesting effects. I
have also used something that I got from the gardening store, unfortunately,
I forget the exact name--it was iron something--anyway--it resulted in some
wonderful reds and orangish colors. I, too, have used a copper wash, which,
very consistently has resulted in blue/grey coloring on the surface.

Good Luck!
