On July 7-8, in Santa Barbara, California, our invincible Vince will
give a workshop on exploring methods of using colored clays. This
two-day workshop will be both fun and rewarding, and if you add a day or
two our local beaches are wonderful. Email me at celadon@silcom.com for
more information. Lesley

Hey guys,
Well, we're down to the last day of the Vince Pitelka handbuilding =
workshop here at my studio and I have to say it's been great! This is =
the first time I've ever personally hosted a workshop, so there have =
been some minor kinks to work out on my part, but the work being =
produced by participants is fantastic! :) If you get the chance to take =
Vince's workshop (any of 'em) DO IT!!! (Also, if you get the chance to =
host him, do that too. He's fun.)

Well, for those who CAN or are willing to, travel, he will present his
Ancient Clay workshop at Living Tree Studios in Summerfield, NC the week of
May 12 - 16. As Michael stated earlier, this is Vince's favorite workshop
to teach, and he will cover a LOT of material in the 5 days. Participants
will have a blackware bonfiring at the end of the session with pots to take
home :)
There is a B&B plus several motels nearby. If you have one of those
Winnebago type things you are welcome to park in the side yard.
Cost is $190/person plus clay fee TBD and lunches at $7.50/day. Best of
all, you can now register for the workshop online at
http://www.living-tree.net .

Hi Evan,
Thanks for the recommendation below, but you are too late, as I'm
already signed up for Vince's colored clay workshop up at Lake Tahoe
this coming July. I almost never take workshops but have always been
interested in color in claybodies, and am going to treat myself to this
one.
Boy it sure would be nice to meet some of you other Clayators up there
in the mountains. Tahoe is a wonderful lake, 6,200 ft up and 1,800 ft
deep. Contact: Sheri Leigh, who runs the summer workshops.

I can not recommend highly enough Vince Pitelka's workshop on colored clay.
I recently attended Vince Pitelka's 5 day workshop on colored clays in
Phoenix Az. It will take me a long time to assimilate all he taught. I
can not say enough how useful it is to have someone with over 30 years
of varied experience in handbuilding, throwing, production and teaching
spend that much time with a group doing ordered demonstrations.
In addition to teaching numerous colored clay patterns, Vince covered
handbuilding method and gave helpful demonstrations of clay technique
that can change the quality of your work. You could get this training by
accidental discovery over a number of years and can not get this from a
book, (even Vince' s - which is the next best thing :) ). I highly
recommend that if you are at all interested you should make an effort to
attend one of his workshops.
Best
