Michael Wendt,

In your recent post (June 3) on Helmer Kaolin Calcine, you gave the
following web site: www.users.lewiston.com/wendtpot/ When I have attempted
it, I have not been able to reach this site.

Could you give an alternative way to search for the information?

To all who were interested in Helmer Kaolin Calcine:
I have completed the first 5 feet of the flash calciner and it works even
better than expected. It will produce nearly 250 lbs per hour of high
temperature calcine for use as body grog or fine ground as a calcined china
clay. Once the rest of the unit is operational, samples will be available to
anyone who wants them for $6.00 to cover the cost of shipping, just like the
Helmer dry clay samples are.
To see the calciner in operation, go to www.users.lewiston.com/wendtpot/
and scroll down to the lower half of the page. There you will see the first
5 feet of the calciner I am building.
Special note, I have refined the making of insulating fire brick and now can
produce special sizes and shapes for your most demanding applications.
Density runs 2.5 lbs per standard straight 2600 degree insulating fire brick
2.5" X 4.5" X 9" but the bricks I make are up to 24" long. I made all the
parts of the calciner from Helmer H-26 duty IFB modules which are 12" X 3.5"
X 17". How about 24 " long arch bricks with a built in curve to make the
construction of the top of the kiln a breeze! Imagine... you would need only
2 brick to span a 48" arch.
I have also developed a new ultra light weight refractory that is non- fiber
and has a density of 12 lbs per cubic foot. Once the process is perfected,
this product may be available as a veneer for kilns to make them more energy
efficient, and it doesn't give off fibers like Kaowool blanket, so it is
stable in high burner velocity settings. I currently am using it in the
burner ports as a tuning medium for the burners in my Olympic updrafts . It
glows yellow hot in seconds and spreads the flame up the sidewall to improve
bottom heating.
