I just came across a compressor today that is supposedly a self cooling
turbine (engine, motor?) It is paired with a sprayer (HVLP). The
sprayer I understand and love using (currently with a much bigger
compressor) but was wondering if this smaller one that puts out the
35-40psi needed for the sprayer, at a constant rate, would work because
of this self cooling feature. In other words, it has to run whenever
the sprayer is going because it's putting out just the psi the sprayer
needs but supposedly isn't going to wear out real fast like other types
of compressors. Am I missing something here or is this a really cool
item?

Mary Ann -
No, it will not work. HVLP stands for high-volume-low-pressure, and the
turbine units intended for HVLP sprayguns create exactly that, and will not
work with a normal higher pressure spraygun. You need a normal piston
compressor to achieve 30 to 40 PSI.
