Those who have a flat-bed scanner can scan glaze test tiles/shards directly
on the glass to get super close-up images of your glaze test without a
digital camera. The images can be printed for documentation, or sent to
others as email attachments. Flat-bed scanners are selling now for as
little as $50. Flat tiles and the usual "L" shaped glaze shards work best,
but very shallow saucers and bowls work well also. Just lift the lid and
place piece on the glass being very careful not to scratch the glass then
cover the work with a non-glossy black cardboard or mat board to give a nice
black background. Crop and frame the work using the scanner software, just
as you would scan a photograph, and that's all there is to it. Email me off
line if you want to see a sample.
Cheers,
John
