Hi, everyone.
I/ve been wandering around the house, feeeling frustrated that with a 102 degree fever, i'm not much good for anything besides taking my temperature & meds.
in a rare moment of energy, i decided to treat myself to some of those cool-looking ribs that come in different colors. when in doubt, shop. when looking for an answer, buy tools.
so, i headed to google...
as i browsed the results of my search, i saw elizabeth priddy's page.
well, i've always enjoyed elizabeth's postings to clayart. and she's always been way generous with email advice to me. so i clicked.
probably everyone has seen this site. probably the divine helen bates has sent it on to you... with my luck, it happened in the last 3 days!
but if you haven't seen it, i think it's worth the trip for potters at any level.
for beginners (from which i'm not far removed) her CORPS mnemonic for throwing is lovely
her essays are beautifully written... a rare event from anyone, including some professional writers
the nell coles grave tribute is wonderfully moving, evocative... and educational
and her section on chinese brush painting is inspiring... not just the technique or lovely results, but the power of collaborative work.
i'm so glad i decided to spend a mopment shopping. and i'm really glad i didn't find the ribs.
well, i'm off to gulping more watered-down orange juice, then it's back to bed for more surreal dream-ettes.
thanks, Priddy.

Ah, no, I haven't sent it on to you, but that's only because Elizabeth
herself told us about her new site not too too long ago... (Well, I
think I sent it to the list with all the rest of the members' sites
about a month back, actually.)
It's a great site, and there's more there than I saw the first time I
visited it. Either I had too many places to go that day or Elizabeth
has put more up since then.
I particularly liked the movie; I'd seen and studied the stills
before, but can you slow it down a bit, Elizabeth? ;-)
Y'all should know that I bought "Priddy's" video a year or so ago, and
it is great for seeing a good method of basic bowl throwing. (I don't
have a TV or a VCR so had to wait until I visited my daughter to see
it on hers.)
I also like seeing all the kinds of pots you make, Elizabeth. You can
do -anything-!
Happy making...
Helen
