I'm far from an expert in this field, but I noticed something in your post
that made me wonder. I'm under the impression that the reason for the soda
ash and the sodium silicate is to allow the clay to become liquid with
lesser amounts of water. Though I don't know what the proper amount of
water should be, fifty percent by weight seems pretty high.
