Dear Cat Jarosz,
When trying out a new clay for teapots and being uncertain about how far =
a spout will twist, the advice to follow is to make a single teapot, =
attach the spout and cut the tip flat across, perfectly parallel to the =
table on which the pot is sitting. Fire and glaze this pot then record =
what has happened by estimating the degree of twist and the direction in =
which it occurred. This will become your model for all future pots in =
that clay. Just apply your cut in the reverse direction each time you =
make a teapot.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis, Redhill, South Australia.
