Dave, my Pacifica is a 20+ year old pre-Laguna GT 800.
When I first got it, the bearing did, in fact, get loose, and I had to
re-position it and tighten the collar. I've never had a lick of trouble
since then.
About 3 years ago, I had to replace the bearings INSIDE the
motor, so that is another story, since Pacifica doesn't manufacture
the motors anyway. (I sent step-by-step instructions for replacing
motor bearings to Clayart at the time, so in case anyone needs
some help, check it out in the archives or write me and I will
copy it and sent it to you).
If you should have to tighten or replace a wheelhead bearing,
it's not hard, and the bearing are not expensive.
