Julie -
By industrial ventilation systems I just meant any system which is designed
and installed by a commercial ventilation contractor. We like to assume
that they know what they are doing. They will take into account the CFM of
airflow needed to cycle the necessary fresh air, and will make sure that
there is an adequate source of "make-up air" to supply combustion and
ventilation, and to make sure that the exhaust fan does not negatively
affect convection in the chimney. The critical thing is that what goes up
the stack on an updraft is just part of the exhaust. The ventilation system
is designed to take care of everything else. If you decided to go for such
a system, I can give you some more pointers.
