Dear Earl Brunner,
I understand what you are saying and although I have not used a Soldner =
mixer I have used the old fashioned Venco pug mill. Wedging, I can get =
spitouts which will project clay across the room, though it is a long =
time since bubbles came out when I was coning.
My question was "Is there any record of the composition of the gas which =
comes from the clay"
Air is obvious because of what we call the beast, we say it is =
"De-airing". Water vapour is less obvious. But if we are "Ageing" our =
clay and making use of bacteria as well as temperature change over time =
to achieve this, where does all the Carbon dioxide go?
It would not be difficult for someone with a de-airing machine to pass =
the exhaust through a wash bottle filled with fresh lime water to test =
my suggestion.
Thanks for your contribution to the discussion.
Best regards,
Ivor
