The Steve Davis kazegama kiln was written about in a long
detailed article by Steve that appeared in Ceramics Art & Perception.
I think about a year ago... He discusses all you would want to know.
Steve also works at Aardvark Ceramic Supply in Santa Ana, CA.
Call and ask him what you want to know. He also does workshops with
the kiln, which he loads in his truck and takes with him.
I am quite impressed with Steve's knowledge about kilns and
the technical territory of clay.
Simply, the kiln is a rectangular design, fiber, with squirrel cage blowers
at one end, at temp. he feeds handfuls of ash through the blower so it
travels through the work. A fast, simple process for the affect of
wood ash firing.
