Hello Clay Folk!
I just got the green light from the head of my small co-op studio to do
some teaching. I intend to offer individual instruction to teens and
adults, most likely beginners. My biggest question is how much should I
charge for individual instruction?

So far I've determined that it will cost me approximately $60 in
materials and the insurance rider to cover students per 8-week session.
(Is 8 weeks a long enough period for a good introduction to clay?) I'm
thinking of structuring it for 1 session a week, for 90 minutes each
session, and I would include all materials (clay, glazes, firing costs)
in the price per student. But what do I charge for my
time/labor/expertise (such as it is?)

There is a well-known school in my town that charges almost $300 for a
12 week session, charges $1/lb for clay, and little real instruction or
guidance goes on at all.

I have a pretty good idea of a series of projects in either hand
building or wheel work, many gleaned from the list (Thanks!)

Any and all input is appreciated!
Thanks much!
