i again want to thank hank m. for his information
on firing down.
i have mentioned this on clayart before.
fire as usual.
when the kiln cools to 2000F re/lite and hold
for several hours.
i have fired three times now with this method...and
all the pots are perfect. even the pesky one's at the
flue. i have historically lost about three pots at the
flue shelf...have tried lifting, lowering, even..nothing
works. now, they are all perfect.
i have 80 pots that i just took out of the kiln.
not a second in the bunch....the rhodes 32 just
feels perfect.
susan karrisch and larron lerdahl tried this method at the
farm and had three great firings.
i have modified my claybody to increase the iron content per
david shaner. added lake superior iron tailings.
same old rhodes 32 glaze...perfect.
new trick to an old dog.
we never stop learning, sharing, giving.
it is what the craft is all about.
we are lucky folks.
givers of found research.
what a concept.
