Ok, here's the question. If I have an electric kiln that has an Orton =
or Skutt type vent on it, and it is running, of course, is it safe to =
work in the same room as the kiln?

Hi,
It is safe to work in the studio if the vent is properly installed and doing
the job it is designed for. I have 3 kilns in my studio and I work when the
kilns are firing. If you have more questions about this please feel free to
contact me.

Best regards,

Hi Lisa,

Depends on a number of things - any freash air coming in? Which way is the
wind blowing and how much junk is coming out of the clay and glazes.

How big is the room and how hard are you working.

I have a big studio and a vent and there are times I feel it is best if I
am not in there when firing my electric kiln with a vent system -
particularly towards the end of a bisque firing.
